Plasma-TV sind noch lange nicht vom Markt verschwunden. Auch wenn es ganz nach einem Anfang vom Ende in diesem Jahr aussehen könnte, nach Pioneer’s Ausstieg. LG Electronics bietet jetzt in Großbritannien moderne und schlanke Plasma-Modelle an: PS8000, PS7000, PS6000, PS3000, PQ6000 und PQ3000. Es gibt drei Bildschirmgrößen bei allen Modellen: 60, 50 und 42 Zoll. Die PS8000, PS7000 und PS/PQ6000 sind in 50 oder 60 Zoll erhältlich, während der einfacher ausgestattete PS/PQ3000 in 42 und 50 Zoll auf den Markt kommen wird. Das Design nennt sich Indigo Blue.

Die neuen Plasma-Fernseher von LG bieten die neue Smooth Motion Engine mit 600 Hz (sub-field driving). Je nach Modell 3x oder 4x HDMI 1.3, Dual XD Engine, USB 2.0 (JPEG / MP3 / DivX HD), THX Certified, Bluetooth und Full-HD- oder HD-Ready-Auflösung. Die Plasma-Panel-Laufzeit gibt LG hier schon mit 100.000 Stunden an, was für viele unterhaltsame Jahre reichen sollte. Auch der Stromverbrauch wurde reduziert und wird durch einen Bildsensor im Energieverbrauch optimiert. Der dynamische Kontrast liegt bei satten 2.000.000:1 bei einer hohen Helligkeit von bis zu 1.500 cd/m². Die Lautsprecher sind nicht sichtbar unten angebracht worden.
