Von Microsoft ist das kleine Werkzeug WUDT zur Installation eines ISO-Images von Windows 7 auf einem USB-Stick kostenlos verfügbar. Für die Installation auf einem Netbook oder Notebook ohne optisches Laufwerk, lässt sich so eine Original-Version mit Windows 7 auf einem USB-Laufwerk/-Stick mit mindestens 4 GB Speicherkapazität bootfähig formatieren. Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 oder höher sollte auf dem Windows-System zum Betrieb installiert sein. Das Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool (WUDT) brennt ISO-Images aus dem Online-Store von Microsoft auf DVD. Wer einen Blu-ray-Brenner besitzt, kann auch auch eine DVD damit anfertigen oder auf eine Blu-ray Disc brennen.


Installation

When you are prompted to either save the file to disk or run it, choose Run.
Follow the steps in the setup dialogs. You’ll have the option to specify where to install the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool and whether to create shortcuts on your Start Menu or Windows Desktop.
You need to be an administrator on the computer you are installing the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool on. The tool requires the Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 or higher. If this is not already installed on your computer, the installation program will install it for you. In this case, you may have to reboot your machine to complete installation.
